Ready for an adventure unlike any other? I am currently 37 years old as I write this introduction. I have had the opportunity to travel the world, found and operate an international not-for-profit organization in the Peruvian Amazon, establish a missionary sending agency with over 100 missionaries, work on multiple church staffs in multiple positions, launch more than 20 additional non-profits, while also setting sail on over 25 cruises, vacationing yearly (thanks parents) and currently live in the wealthiest county per capita in my state.
Within that county, my kids attend the most diverse school in the district, there are 400 churches for the 600,000 people who live here, and my son's soccer team I coach is represented by families from 7 countries and 4 different religions. Nearly all my family are doctors or nurses, I work out at a gym full of affluent soccer moms and firefighters, and my wife and I live below the poverty line.
We are on mission.
No, life isn't always easy for us. I don't believe it was ever meant to be. We live a life full of contradictions and dichotomies as we prayerfully discern where and what the Spirit is leading us to. Always attempting to reflect Jesus and his example. Always living in gratitude for how God continues to love us and surround us with people who choose to bless us and walk alongside us.
Which brings me to why I put this together:
In today's world, there is no user manual on how to do life perfectly (or at least I haven't found one yet). Sure, there are countless outlets, pulpits, and individuals that will gladly share their thoughts, but how do you know if they have truly experienced the goodness of God? Even more importantly, how many of those folks are living with the thrill of the Kingdom of God flowing through them? By that I mean, reflecting the promised fruits of the Spirit, living with peace under his sovereignty, and operating with the same influence and power Jesus did.
Over the past 15 years, my family and I have been pioneering a journey that puts the pursuit and experience of that thrill at its center. We do our best to live as missionaries in our community, neighborhood, workplace, and abroad. We aim daily to deepen our relationship with Jesus, preferably together in community, while reflecting the Kingdom of God at the same time. This guide represents the process we've gone through and highlights aew of the tools we've utilized along the way.
My life's purpose and desire, is that everyone would learn how to connect with God's unique purpose for their life and engage in it. I believe that if this happens, we will not only experience the love, joy, peace, and additional fruits of the Spirit, but we will see how a community united in mission can actually impact and change the world!
